I REMEMBER WHEN
This 1950's Crestview home holds a lot of memories for my wife and I. We bought this quaint little 1100sf home just after our engagement and it was our first real addition. We had done live-in remodels before, but never a full on addition.
We saved and planned for months, and shortly after returning from our honeymoon, decided to live in of one of the existing bedrooms while we tore apart the rest of the house. We cooked on a little camp stove as we demolished the entire kitchen and took very short cold showers for the next several weeks as we reworked all the mechanicals, including the water heater. We built a new peir and beam addition to match the existing foundation type, and there we added a desparately needed new laundry room (the existing layout had the washer/dryer combo in the kitchen), a huge new master bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a luxurious master bath complete with walk-in shower, drop-in tub, and double vanity.
We kept the footprint of the existing house mostly the same, but completely rebuilt everything in the kitchen with new cabinets, countertops, floating shelves, backsplash, and appliances. The entire house recieved new wood floors, insulation, sheetrock where needed, and paint. The exterior recieved all new windows, siding, paint, roof, a new fascade with carport overhang, a new back deck, custom privacy fence panels, and all new landscaping.
We still like to draw up old memories of that house. I remember when we stayed up all night two days before our wedding custom making our own boquets becuase the flower shop screwed up the order and didn't have time to fix it. Thank you HEB for having an awesome floral selection at that time! Another construction adventure for the memory book.
