Called the OG because this house was where we cut our teeth and the inspiration for TURNERound Construction Co. was born. A live and flip that taught many lessons and birthed lifelong memories, this house had it all…multi-level living areas, pier and beam subfloor adjoining concrete slab, original grade not low enough to prevent water intrusion, old popcorn texture, outdated kitchen and bathrooms, undesirable flooring & fixtures, and the list goes on and on.

We all but gutted this house and revamped everything. We didn't have the money to go the traditional route, so we did most of the work ourselves and learned as we went. We lived in the master bedroom on a plywood subfloor while we remodeled the three living areas this house had. There was only one working toilet in the powder bath all the way on the other side of the house, and the only usable shower was in the hall bath, so it was quite the ordeal for our morning routine everyday getting ready for our regular day jobs as we crisscrossed the house.

But slowly and steadily, our dream came to life...new framing was installed; mechanicals revamped; sheetrock patched; new cabinets, countertops, flooring all completed. We installed new cedar tongue & groove 1x6 on the ceiling of the large living room to tie into the natural wood and tile aesthetic we had going on. We put up all new fans and fixtures and repainted the entire house. The grading around the exterior was corrected so that water correctly flowed away from the house and then all new landscaping was installed.

We've come a long way since that original house, but it still forms the roots of our construction adventure, and we'll forever be grateful for the lessons learned from that first house.
